A large cat statue gifted by Colombian artist Fernando Botero to his home city Medellin can’t seem to keep its whiskers, after a second hair was discovered missing Monday.
One of the cat’s 14 hairs disappeared within a week of its unveiling in the community of San Cristobal, and was replaced last week.
Now another of the $1.3 million dollar bronze statue’s whiskers has been found missing, local media reported Monday.
A member of the community donated an estimated three million pesos to restore the first loss, commissioning a new whisker from the same Italian studio where Botero crafted the cat, Radio Caracol reported.
The community is said to be concerned about the pattern of disappearing whiskers.
