Spain’s Atletico Madrid beat Bogota’s Millionarios 2-1 in an exhibition match in Colombia’s capital, Wednesday.
The match was highly anticipated as it was the first time in more than a decade that Colombia’s most famous soccer star, Radamel Falcao, would be playing a club match on Colombian soil. “El Tigre” needed just three minutes to score against his former team.
The $58 million superstar was replaced only minutes into the second half, but Atletico pushed on and made it 2-0 through young Spanish midfielder Koke.
Seven minutes from the end, Millonarios won a penalty. Despite initially being stopped by Atletico goalkeeper Sergio Ansejo, Matias Urbano scored the rebound to hand the Bogota giants some consolation against the recently crowned Europa League winners.
