Almost 30,000 Colombians have been affected by the rainy season so far this year, with reports of twelve dead and 87 injured by adverse weather in April.
Vice Minister for the Interior Viviana Manrique said that 6,031 families in 100 municipalities have been adversely affected by the rainy season.
The worst-hit departments are Meta, with 8,167 people affected, and Tolima with 7,211, according to the vice minister.
Manrique said that local mayors and governors are committed to aiding their communities and stressed the importance of contingency plans in emergency situations.
So far this rainy season has left 20,000 Colombians homeless and many more have been evacuated from their homes due to fears of landslides.
Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc across several Colombian cities earlier this week, causing landslides, floods, and car accidents.
