Colombia’s Air Force on Monday destroyed a broadcast station used by the country’s largest left-wing insurgent group the FARC.
The operation was carried out in Colombia’s southwestern Nariño department near the towns of Magui and Payan, where the main means of communication, “La Voz de la Resistencia” or The Voice of the Resistance was located for the FARC’s 29th front.
The country’s air force has credited both the National Police and army for providing the location of the site which was equipped with antennas, cables, transmitters and other radio broadcast equipment.
A review of the sight following the bombings revealed that the equipment had a frequency to reach other areas of Nariño and also the southwest Cauca department for alleged purposes of broadcasting persuasive messages to civilians.
The FARC have had their own radio station for years. The Colombian armed forces frequently destroy broadcasting stations owned by the guerrillas to prevent them from broadcasting their propaganda.
