Colombia’s National Police Monday announced a plan to prevent juvenile crime and drug abuse in Medellin and Cali.
The project will focus on strengthening values in early childhood and on the prosecution of adults who use children to commit crimes, Caracol Radio reported.
The plan will be introduced in Cali (barrios Los Mangos, Candeleria and Florida) on 1 July and in Medellin (Comuna 13) on 3 July.
The Police chose the barrios according to their high crime rates involving minors.
According to General Luz Marina Bustos, coordinator of the plan, 158,760 juvenile criminals were arrested in the last five years.
