Presidential candidate and former Medellin mayor Sergio Fajardo denied criticism that he is against Uribe’s program of ‘democratic security’.
Fajardo was responding to a comment made by respected political adviser Fabio Echeverri to El Espectador that the aspiring president would not make it to la Casa de Nariño because he was “anti-democratic security”.
The former mayor told W Radio that contrary to Echeverri’s comment, he believes that Colombia’s security has improved considerably. He said it was possible to support democratic security without supporting the re-election of President Alvaro uribe.
Echeverri had said that Colombia will not elect a President opposed to democratic security.
Fajardo said he will start the process of collecting signatures in order to officially register his candidacy on June 4.
