The complete Police force in a the north west Colombia town was
dismissed for allegedly collaborating with drug gangs, being corrupt or
mistreating the local population.
According to Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos, the 25 police officials in Bahia Solano were dismissed and will be replaced to enhance security in the area.
“We were in a security council in Bahia Solano on the Pacific coast (…) We had counter-intelligence information about corruption and after listening to the community we made the decision to dismiss the entire Police force,” the Minister said.
Santos reiterated that the government has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption.
