A twelve-year-old boy from central Colombia who apparently committed
suicide for fearing his parent’s rage might have been murdered, Radio
Caracol reported on Wednesday.
Initially, the child’s mother and various relatives said that the boy committed suicide after neighbors made him believe he would be blamed for
the robbery of his parent’s house.
However, recent versions reported to the municipal authorities indicate that the suicide was rather a homicide.
“The Police already started a formal investigation for murder and rejected the hypothesis of suicide,” Government Secretary of Armenia, Julio Ernesto Ospina, said to Radio Caracol. The knot in the cord with which the boy allegedly committed suicide is the main evidence that it was not a suicide.
Classmates of the twelve-year-old say that the boy had been maltreated by his parents.
