Córdoba, announced she would facilitate the exchange of bodies of FARC
secretariat members Raúl Reyes and Iván Ríos for that of police chief
Julián Ernesto Guevara. Police say the exchange is not possible, as the remains of Reyes and Ríos were already returned to their families.
Córdoba’s had said that the body of Guevara, who died while under FARC captivity, would be returned in exchange for the bodies of the infamous FARC leaders. The FARC was reported to have agreed to the handover.
However, National Police Commander Oscar Naranjo released a statement saying that unfortunately such an exchange would not be possible. “We simply don’t have the remains of either ‘Reyes’ or ‘Ríos’,” he said. “They have already been returned to their families”.
