DMG director David Murcia, currently on trial for money laundering and
illicit enrichment, says he prefers to be tried in the United States.
Murcia says to have no faith in a fair trial in Colombia and prefer to be tried in the United States, where a New York court is expecting him to face money laundering charges.
“Mr. David Murcia sent a fax to a judge in Bogotá wherein he assures that he has no garantees for a fair and impartial trial and that we prefer an extradition,” defense lawyer Gustavo Salazar said Wednesday.
The trial, scheduled to be continued Wednesday, was suspended again after the defense started presenting its evidence, while this evidence should first have been sent to the prosecution and victims before used in court, the judge ruled.
