The Colombian army Friday had not been able to locate the 27 bodies of victims
of two massacres reported by indigenous and human rights groups.
The National authorities sent investigators to the south eastern department of Nariño Thursday to investigate the killings and are accomanied by the top commanders of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Police and the Army.
The army has been searching the area where the indigenous say the massacres took place since Thursday afternoon. So far, the search for the victims have proven fruitless. Not one dead body has been found so far.
Nariño governor Antonio Navarro is not surprised the army has not yet found the bodies, because the area is known for its jungles and mountains.
Meanwhile, top officials of both the Police and the Army are talking to indigenous leaders to improve relations.
