Iconic Colombian television news presenter Jose Fernandez Gomez has died in the United States at the age of 95.
Originally from Spain, Fernandez is remembered for presenting the Seven O’Clock News and the National News during the 80s and 90s, where he managed to deliver the news in a “spontaneous way without compromising reliability or credibility,” according to Colombian media.
The journalist who is celebrated for his interviews and unique presenting style, was well known for his catchphrase: “buenas, buenas,” delivered with hands clasped.
Colombian journalists remembered the presenter with his constant 1950s-style coat and hat, as “magnificent in the world of communications,” and an “influential pillar of opinion programs.”
Although Fernandez died last week, the family only released news of his death on Tuesday, and according to his wishes there will be no funeral.
