Colombia’s incoming Attorney General Alejandro Ordoñez says he will
make the disciplinary investigations of extrajudicial killings by members of the security forces one of his priorities when
he takes office.
In an interview with Caracol Radio the new Attorney General said that “the Colombian society, the international community and the credibility of the state demanddecisions fast.”
Ordoñez announced he will form special work groups to proceed with the investigations into army members as swiftly as possible.
Colombia’s armed forces came under scrutiny after the sacking of 27 military officials in November. Hundreds of members of the security forces are suspected of having murdered civilians and presented them as guerrillas killed in combat to make their battle against illegal armed groups look more effective.
