Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos will attend the opening ceremony of the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.
After ringing the bell to mark the start of the day’s trading, Santos will participate in a breakfast meeting with executives from investment funds such as Blackrock, Blackstone and Pimco and banks such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Nomura.
The Colombian President will also attend a lunch hosted by the Council of the Americas and the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia and have meetings with editorial boards of several U.S. media.
The President of Colombia’s stock exchange, Juan Pablo Cordoba, will open the London stock exchange on Friday as well.
The simultaneous opening of the two stock exchanges will take place a little over two weeks after a Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and the U.S. went into effect.
