1510 human rights workers that received death threats the first nine
months this year have entered a government protection program,
Colombia’s Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio said
Tuesday.
The Minister told representatives of human rights workers the government spent 13 billion pesos (US$6 million) on the protection of human rights defenders so far this year.
According to valencia, the government “maintains and strengthens the necessary guarantees” for human rights workers to be able “to make their complaints about alleged violations of human rights.”
