Deportes Tolima defended their comfortable lead over their nearest
rivals with a 2-0 win over Santa Fé on Wednesday. Deportivo Cali easily
beat Bucaramanga to remain second.
Fernando put Tolima in the lead against Independiente Santa Fé in Ibagúe, and an own goal from González doubled the advantage six minutes ahead of the break.
The Tolimenses keep an advantage of four points over Deportivo Cali, who in turn had no difficulties at all against Atlético Bucaramanga.
Aguilar opened the score in the 15th minute and Montero made it 2-0 five minutes later. The third and final goal came from Herrera in the 70th minute.
Millonarios find themselves back near the top of the table with a narrow win over Atlético Huila. The only goal came from Elinho in the 67th minute.
Junior beat América de Cali 4-3 in a highly entertaining match played in Barranquilla.
Gutierrez’ early goal for Junior was soon cancelled out by Arango and Restrepo made it 1-2 near the half hour mark.
But Yanez levelled a few minutes later and Palacio converted a penalty for 3-2 just before the break.
After the interval, Gutierrez got his second to make it 4-2 and Parra’s goal for 4-3 was too little, too late for América.
Boyaca Chicó added another consecutive win to their account and begin moving up the ranks. Moreno scored the opening goal against Pereira after 14 minutes but Barahona equalised not much later.
Moreno had the last laugh though, netting the winning goal just before the hour mark.
Independiente Medellín and Envigado held each other to a 1-1 draw in their regional derby. Alvarez put DIM in the lead after 61 minutes but Pabon levelled nine minutes later.
La Equidad were a bit too strong for Once Caldas in Bogotá, with the only and therefore winning goal scored by Carpintero in the 19th minute.
Cúcuta Deportivo earned what is only their third win of the season against Deportivo Pasto. The winning goal came from Rivas in the 76th minute, 1-0.
Nevertheless, Cúcuta remain in last position and Pasto are to be found in seventeenth place.
Deportes Quindío and Atlético Nacional face each other in the only match played on Thursday.
If things are to remain the same at the end of the season, the following clubs would make it to the next round: Tolima, Cali, Millonarios, Junior, Santa Fé, Pereira, DIM, La Equidad.
Quindío could still surpass DIM and la Equidad if they beat Nacional later today.
