Police have discovered evidence of 67 alleged FARC terrorist plots aimed at disrupting elections in the Cauca department in southwest Colombia, CM& reports Monday.
President Santos announced Saturday that Colombia’s armed forces had killed 15 FARC members, injuring one more in the process and seizing various heavy weaponry and intelligence files from a FARC training school.
Among these intelligence documents apparently were plots for 67 terrorist attacks to affect the pre-electoral and electoral periods. The plans were seemingly prepared by the Secretariat of the FARC in conjunction with the FARC’s Western Joint Command, according to Radio Santa Fe.
The killed FARC guerrillas were apparently members of the Elite Command Dagoberto Ramos, from the FARC’s Sixth Front, who were believed to be at an advanced stage of training at the FARC school, RCN Radio reports.
Dagoberto Ramos has been held responsible for 210 attacks on security forces and civilians over the past two years, most recently for murdering four police officers.
Following Saturday’s army operation, the police confirmed that two leaders of the guerrilla cell, aliases “Jair” and “Raul,” were killed and over 1,235 acres of coca leaf destroyed.
