Some 17 houses were completely destroyed in the north-eastern Colombian city of Cucuta after heavy rains caused a mudslide in the north of the city. There were no reports of injuries.
The landslide took place in a slum called Juan Bautista Escalabrini where local authorities were able to evacuate 30 families before the landslide took place.
A community leader told Caracol Radio that ten more houses are threatened to be destroyed.
The victims were housed in local shelters and will be given resources to look for temporary housing elsewhere in the city.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Saturday warned Colombians for more rains that could further devastate the country after last year’s torrential rains.
