The FARC are involved in the military training of Chávez supporters in
a secret camp in Venezuela, several witnesses and critics of the
Venezuelan President told U.S. newspaper El Nuevo Herald.
The camp in the Venezuelan state of Tachira, close to the Colombian border, allegedly allows hundreds of militant supporters of Chávez’ ‘Bolivarion Revolution’ to be trained by both Cuban, Venezuelan and FARC trainers.
The trainings are not just ideological, but according to witnesses also include the use of light and heavy weaponry and explosives.
Local officials have confirmed the existence of the camp and the presence of Cubans, but deny the activities in the camp are of a paramilitary nature.
President Chávez allegedly has delivered speeches in the camp, but his administration refuses to comment on the existence of the camp.
