Millonarios are back on top after a convincing victory over Cúcuta on
Saturday, while Deportivo Cali beat América in this weekend’s classic.
Cúcuta no match for Millonarios
After last week’s defeat, Millonarios wanted to take revenge with a win over Cúcuta Deportivo on Saturday.
And that’s exactly what Millos got. Defender Bedoya opened the score
after just six minutes and Milton Rodríguez converted a penalty kick
just before the break.
The third and final goal came from Robayo with two minutes left in regular time.
Thanks to this win, Millonarios re-take the lead in the Copa Mustang
II with Sunday’s matches still ahead. Santa Fé, Deportes Tolima and
Junior Barranquilla could occupy the first spot after this match round.
Deportivo beat América in Cali derby
Football fans in Cali gathered to see which of their two major teams
would win the prestigious local derby, and who would have to live with
the humiliation from opposing fans until their next meeting.
No goals were scored in the first half and even the second went by
goalless for a long time. But in the 73rd minute, Deportivo finally
ended the stalemate with Montero netting for 1-0.
América still had a chance to come back but their hope was ended by the 2-0 from Carillo in the 84th minute.
Nacional allow La Equidad to take valuable points
Atlético Nacional have not had the start they were hoping for,
having won only two of six games in the Copa Mustang II. And that
record would not be improved at La Equidad.
The small Bogotan side, who surprisingly reached the final of last
year’s Copa Mustang II, won thanks to a converted penalty kick from
Motta in the 24th minute.
