A helicopter crash in the rural north Colombian department of Norte de Santander has left two dead Monday, Caracol Radio reported.
National authorities believe that stormy weather associated with the rainy season was the primary cause for the accident, in which Capitan Javier Rodrigo Acosta Valbuena and technical engineer Jorge Vélez Herrera both perished.
The purpose of the flight was apparently to carry out preparatory oil exploration work in that area of the country.
The latest reports stated that weather problems have thus far prevented the recovery of the bodies from the crash site in the municipality of Lourdes, to the west of the department.
