Colombia’s Inspector General’s Office dismissed 17 soldiers two years after they were convicted for the massacre of 10 members of a police anti-narcotics squad in 2006.
The soldiers ambushed and murdered the anti-narcotics squad in the municipality of Jamundi, just south of Cali, on May 22, 2006.
According to the court that sentenced the soldiers to 54 years in jail in 2008, the men were bribed by the leader of a local drug gang to kill the police officers.
Because of the inspector General’s ruling, the soldiers are not allowed to public service for 20 years.
