Barranquilla’s carnival, the biggest in the world after Rio de Janeiro, kicked off Saturday with its epic Battle of Flowers parade. For those of you who are not in Colombia, here’s what you missed.
The good thing is that you didn’t faint under the blistering sun that oversaw the Carnival and pushed up temperatures to excessively tropical levels.
However, that is probably the only good thing about not going to the carnival, because you missed the new Miss Colombia, the Carnival Queen and a bunch of other beauty queens.
More importantly, you missed the presentation of dozens of dance groups proudly exhibiting Colombia’s rich Caribbean culture at an event that is globally recognized as cultural heritage of human kind.
