Thieves have stolen an entire ATM in Barranquilla and hauled it away by pushing along the floor lubricated with watermelons skins, newspaper El Tiempo reported Tuesday.
At 7:05AM Monday, the six fruity felons overpowered a security guard and four employees at the Olimpica drug store on Calle 76. They disconnected the alarms, removed the ATM and made off in a waiting get-away car with just over $3,000.
The canteloup-aided caper was not as fruitful as the bandits had hoped; they were caught 12 hours later.
This is not the first time the coastal Caribbean city of Barranquilla has been victim of a melony misdemeanour. In March 2008 a Bancolombia ATM in an El Corral burger joint stolen in the same slippery, slushy way.
