Colombia’s Supreme Court failed to elect a new prosecutor general for the 22nd time this year, despite President Juan Manuel Santos’ request for a hasty decision.
Santos reiterated his request for an successful vote from New York, where he is attending a United Nations meeting.
The U.S. Department of State recently certified Colombia as “reaching statutory criteria related to human rights,” but emphasized the need to make a “swift selection of the prosecutor general.”
The Supreme Court will meet again on Monday to vote.
