Police seized an estimated 2 billion pesos (approximately $1 million) hidden in the walls and beneath the bathroom floor in an apartment in northern Bogota, WRadio reported Tuesday.
Police raided the apartment, which had been made bullet proof and sound proof, after first finding another apartment closeby. The first apartment, also bullet proofed, housed bullet proof vests and a large quantity of ammunition, as well as documents that disclosed the second apartment’s location.
Authorities believe the money belongs to drug traffickers.
Bogota Metropolitan Police Commander Cesar Pinzon said that 600 million pesos ($300,000) of the money had so far been counted.
“We are searching for more information and more money,” Pinzon said.
WRadio reported that two people are believed to have been taken into police custody.
