A Colombian model that performed in a music video produced by FARC member alias “El Cantante” said that she is still in shock over his arrest for alleged responsibility for numerous murders, newspaper El Tiempo reported Wednesday.
“Two long weeks have gone by and I haven’t been able to recover from the impact,” said Bibiana Arboleda, who performed in “Detras de la puerta,” a music video that included romantic scenes with Carlos Humberto Valencia, alias “El Cantante.”
Valencia, arrested by Colombian authorities on May 30, was a 13-year member of the FARC who apparently hid his ties to the organization by pretending to be a musician, thus giving him the name that means “the singer.” El Cantante is allegedly linked to at least 30 murders in Bogota’s Ciudad Bolivar neighborhood and accused of directing a group of assassins and extortionists.
“I was viewing the noon news, the day of the capture, and I became aware of what happened with Carlos. My skin [hair] stood on end. It is the hour that I don’t recover from, it never would have passed through my mind that, as the news says, he was an assassin,” said Arboleda.
The model added that, when she met and spent time with Humberto Valencia during the recording session, he appeared to be “a man with the passion to succeed, gentlemanly, friendly, with an excellent sense of humor.”
In respect to whether she noted anything at all strange during the recording session, Arboleda stated, “no, not even a call in which he had to step out. I never saw him in bad spirits, he was happy and courteous with the whole team.”
