National authorities uncovered several cases of land theft on state property in western Colombia, reported local media.
An investigation was launched into several suspected cases of land theft on the Farrallones National Park, close to Colombia’s fourth most populous city Cali, in the western department of Valle del Cauca, announced Superintendant of Notaries and Registries Jorge Enrique Velez.
The cases of counterfeit and land theft were allegedly carried out by individuals planning to build farmland and rest areas on state property.
Investigators will continue to work in the coming days to determine exactly how much government land has been stolen in the region.
