Colombia’s government on Thursday slammed Dutch FARC guerrilla Tanja Nijmeijer’s statement that she does not want to be rescued, and will fight “until I win or die.”
Minister of Defence, Rodrigo Rivera, said that “99% of our citizens condem their acts of terrorism and provocative attitude, what we Colombians want is to live in peace, that no one dies and we are going to achieve that either through reason or force.”
In a video Nijmeijer warned the Colombian government not to rescue her and that if they try, the guerrillas “will meet them with AK-47s, bazookas, mines, mortars, everything”.
Rivera said that the words used by Nijmeijer in the video showed the “provocative and stubborn attitude of those who have lost all contact with Colombian reality, every harmony with the citizens.”
