Foreign direct investment in Colombia grew by 113% between 2010 and 2011, from $6.8 billion to $14.4 billion, according to UNCTAD, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
In the report Global Investment Trends Monitor, Colombia ranked fifth worldwide in terms of the growth of FDI received. Austria, South Africa, Italy and Portugal were the only nations to do better.
Between 2010 and 2011 FDI in the Latin America and Caribbean region grew by 35% from $161 billion to $216 billion and increased globally by 17% from $1.3 trillion to $1.5 trillion.
Most of the growth in the Latin America and Caribbean region took place in Brazil, Colombia and offshore financial centers.
