Colombia’s defense ministry claimed Monday that policemen captured by the rebel group FARC in late January and released last week have been subject to “torture.”
“The heroes were subject to torture by the FARC during [their] kidnapping,” said the ministry on Twitter.

The defense ministry did not go into specifics about the alleged torture.
The two policemen were captured during combat in the Valle del Cauca department and were released Friday to a delegation from the Red Cross and Colombians for Peace, a peace advocacy group led by ex-senator Piedad Cordoba.
