Demobilized AUC leader ‘Juancho Dique’ accused a string of officials in
Colombia’s Caribbean region of involvement in ‘parapolitics’.
Uber Enrique Banquez Martinez, alias ‘Juancho Dique’ was the commander of the Heroes de los Montes de María block of paramilitary organization the AUC. He is now afforded benefits for participating in the Justice and Peace process.
‘Juancho Dique’ alleges that “all the mayors in the populations of Norte de
Bolívar and Montes de María received support in 2003 from the Heroes de los Montes de María block, inculding Cartagena,” El Universal reported Thursday.
The former mayor of Cartagena Alberto Barboza gave the AUC a Toyota Prado truck to demonstarte his allegaince, according to ‘Juancho Dique’. This truck was reported stolen by Barboza, El Universal reported.
