Colombia Reports’ free news alerts

by Adriaan Alsema September 5, 2016

Thanks to the generous support of readers, Colombia Reports can now send free news alerts to your phone.

To receive the news alerts, all you have to do is subscribe to Colombia Reports’ Whatsapp broadcast.

We had intended to kick off this service for ages, but were held back by dropping ad revenue and increased costs I bored you with before.

Help Colombia Reports uphold independent journalism

However, after dozens of readers stepped in and voluntarily subscribed to a monthly donation, we were not just able to cover our existing costs, but were able to get the phone we needed to send out the news alerts.

If you are interested in the alerts, all you have to do is add Colombia Reports’ number, +573173565542, to your Whatsapp contacts and send us a message with your name (or any name for that matter).

Support independent journalism in
Colombia and become a friend of
Colombia Reports

If you want to unsubscribe, simply delete us from your contacts and the alerts will stop instantly.

If you want to use Whatsapp as a hotline with the newsroom you do have to commit to a $10 / month subscription. These subscribers will be able to ask the newsroom questions, explanations, context or advise.

In order to move away from advertising while remaining a free and independent news publication, we also set up a subscription method for news organizations who want access to our extensive data collection or help with obtaining data on Colombia.

Journalists and news organizations interested in this can subscribe for $20 / month.

Colombia Reports’ journalist resources

Depending on how successful we are in convincing readers to voluntarily contribute and sponsor our work, I hope to have more good news soon. We still want an app and the newsletter should be revived soon.
