Police in Colombia’s capital Bogota said Tuesday they have prevented a major bomb attack near a major bus station in the south of the city.
According to the police, a 25-kilo explosive artifact was found just before midnight inside a car parked close to the Usme bus station which deals with thousands of commuters each day.
After finding the bomb, some 4,000 people were forced to evacuate after which a bomb squad went in to deactivate the explosive.
Three men who allegedly left the car with the explosives were arrested as they were abandoning the vehicle.
Local media said that the police are investigating the assumption that the FARC’s eastern block was behind the botched attack on either the bus station, a nearby shopping mall, the nearby La Picota prison or a military institute.
