Colombian security forces discovered 3.5 tons of marijuana in the southwest department of Cauca, according to an army statement released Thursday.
The Colombian Army, in coordination with police, located the marijuana in the rural area of Buenavista outside the municipality of Corinto.
Authorities found 71 packages, totalling 3.5 tons of marijuana, camouflaged in the jungle.
The army claimed the drugs belonged to Colombia’s largest insurgent group, the FARC, and would have been used to finance their guerrilla activities.
Military units also found a suspected FARC training camp and bomb making materials in other areas around Cauca.
