The annual BogotAfro week celebrates the artistic, intellectual and social contributions of Afro-Colombians to the country.
The festival will host events throughout Bogota featuring the music, food, art, and folklore of the Afro-Colombian community.
More than a celebration, it is a commemorative event remembering the abolition of slavery in 1851 and the creation of Palenque de San Basilio, the first free town in the Americas that was established in in the 16th century.
The week will kick off on May 13 and culminate on May 21, Day of the Afro-Colombian in Colombia
