While stock markets plunge around the world, Colombia’s commodities market and others are showing significant growth as investors seek refuge in traditional products.
Despite the nearly 19 percent drop in the Colombian stock market this year, the National Agricultural Stock Exchange has seen their best growth in recent years, reported Caracol Radio. Growth numbers were not included in the article.
“The investing public wants to return to the base, wants to return to the fundamental and basically these commodity markets offer that, it is the possibility to return to tangible basic products that always have a high demand,” Juan Carlos Botero, president of the National Livestock Exchange.
Only coffee and coal currently have a negative change in the market.
