A Cali judge found 17 members of a drug gang guilty of involvement
in the 2006 Jamundí massacre, in which ten anti-narcotics police were
killed.
It was proved that the leader of the gang ‘Indio William’ tipped off Colombian soldiers as to the whereabouts of an anti-narcotics squad in the town of Jamundí. The soldiers had been bribed by a drug cartel to murder the squad.
Following the tip off, the squad was massacred by those same soldiers. The soldiers were sentenced to 54 years in jail in May 2008.
