“Betwitch yourself with the magic of La Jagua” is the slogan for the XII Festival of Witches coming to the Colombian town of La Jagua in the south central department of Huila.
The celebration of witches takes place November 2-5, involving artistic exhibitions, “nights of enchantment,” traditional music, bonfires and recognition of the “funniest and ugliest witches” reported newspaper La Semana.
Renowned theater director Jorge Vargas created the festival in 2000. He wanted to create an event celebrating the town that has been traditionally known for its witches.
