Twelve citizens were injured on Monday in a confrontation between Colombia’s national police and protesters outside the site of the Cusiana oil rig in the eastern department of Casanare.
Caracol radio reported that the protesters were demanding higher pay for their work on the oil site in the municipality of Tauramena.
The conflict was initiated by the police on the 24th day of action by the protesters, when a grenade was used against the crowd to clear the entrance of the Cusiana site.
The confrontation lasted more than half an hour and left twelve people injured and numerous others, including children, were affected by tear gas used by the national police.
