Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique announced his girlfriend, Colombian singer Shakira, will give birth to their first son on Tuesday.
“This Tuesday (22 of January) our first son will be born,” said the FC Barcelona defender on Instagram.
According to several media outlets, the birth is due to take place in a Barcelona hospital sometime during the day.
Shakira was reportedly rushed to the hospital after feeling “increasing discomfort” on Monday.
Spanish newspaper La Razon reported that Shakira was eager to push ahead with the labor, as she had a series of scheduled singing engagements in the near future.
Fans of the 35-year-old singer and the 25-year-old soccer player showered the couple with adulations on social media websites.
