Alleged members of drug trafficking organization “Los Rastrojos” have killed two people and kidnapped 13 others in the south west of Colombia. Nine of the kidnap victims were later released, authorities said Wednesday.
According to local authorities, the kidnappers, dressed in camouflage outfit, held the group of 15 in the municipality of Cumbitara, Nariño on Sunday and killed two before kidnapping the remaining 13.
After the release of nine of the hostages, three alleged prostitutes and one man remained in captivity of the armed men.
According to a Nariño police official, the kidnappers are part of Los Rastrojos, an illegal armed group formed from the remnants of the now-defunct Norte del Valle cartel and highly active in drug trafficking n the south west of Colombia.
In the same region, other armed groups like the FARC and ELN are also active.
