A Panamanian investment company has announced it will open US$5,000
savings accounts for 11 former FARC captives and accounts of $1,000 for
45 police and military personnel who remain hostages of the guerrilla
group.
The 11 recipients were rescued in July along with former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt after 10 years in captivity, reported Spanish press agency EFE.
The money will be invested over the course of the coming year, after
which the former captives will be granted access, German Cadona,
president of Panamanian investment company Finance Forex, said during
the announcement on the weekly “Voices of the Kidnapped” program on
Caracol Radio.
