Oscar Figueroa wins Colombia’s 2nd silver medal at Olympics

Weightlifter Oscar Figueroa won Colombia’s second silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics Monday.

Figueroa became second after North Korea’s Kim Un Guk, who set a world record lifitng a total of 327kg in the men’s 62-kg division.

The Colombian came 10 kilograms short of the gold medal, lifting 317kg.

Figuroa’s medal is the second silver for the Andean nation since beginning of the 2012 Olympics.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos immediately congratulated the win, saying “the entire country is celebrating.” Cyclist Rigoberto Uran surprised winning silver at the men’s road race on Saturday.
