A criminal gang has allegedly slipped a threatening note under the door of a government human rights office in northern Colombia.
The note, signed by criminal group “Los Rastrojos,” threatens both Valledupar Mayor Fredys Socarras and the region’s public defender Omar Contreras, reported local media on Thursday morning.

Local authorities are working to reform the jail in Valledupar, which was designed to hold 250 people, but is currently housing 1100 inmates.
“Mr Defender, you think you are pretty good,” read part of the note.
The press contact for the public defender said they were currently assessing the validity and severity of the threat.
“This will not deter us from continuing to improve the conditions for prisoners in the jail,” the spokesperson told Colombia’s El Heraldo.
