Over 1,000 members of Colombia’s gay community are expected to participate in the Parade for Sexual Diversity to be held Friday night in the Caribbean city of Cartagena.
The participants, from all along Colombia’s Caribbean coast, will gather in Cartagena’s colonial center in the parade that will take place as part of the Fiestas Novembrinas festivities, reported newspaper El Universal on Thursday.
The procession will begin at the Calle del Pedegral and culminate in the Baluarte Las Bovedas and will consist of musical, folkloric, dance and costume performances by gay groups from across the region.
The Sexual Diversity Parade is one of the most anticipated fesitivites scheduled for November as it will the first public event for sexual diversity to have been held in the city.
On Monday November 16, as part of the festivity schedule, Cartagena will host the national Miss Colombia 2009 beauty pageant finale, which also promises to be a jaw-dropping spectacle.
