Presumed members of an urban FARC militia killed two policemen Thursday afternoon in the coastal city of Tumaco in the soutwestern Nariño department, reported Colombian newspaper El Heraldo Friday.

The policemen were on patrol in the inner city of Tumaco when they were shot and killed by alleged guerrillas from the FARC’s 29th Front. According to El Heraldo, local police went out in pursuit of the perpetrators without success.

As of Friday Colombian authorities had not confirmed the supposed FARC attack.

The FARC’s 29th Front is active in much of Colombia’s Nariño department and is believed to have a network of urban militia members in Tumaco.
