Colombia’s largest guerrilla group, the FARC, on Monday kidnapped two oil engineers in the southern Putumayo department.
According to Caracol Radio, the FARC’s 48th Front, which is active in large parts of Putumayo, was responsible for the kidnapping.
The oil workers were employed by the Colombia’s state-owned oil giant, Ecopetrol.
The FARC’s practice of kidnapping military personnel and civilians has created a controversy at the ongoing FARC-government peace talks in Havana, Cuba.
The FARC on Monday denied that there was a “crisis” in the peace talks and said the conversations continued “in normal mode.”
