Former Senator Piedad Cordoba still has not received details on the hostage release promised by the FARC on December 8, she told press Tuesday.
“The date is coming closer,” said Cordoba, adding that “we are waiting for the coordinates to arrive.”
The former senator and hostage release mediator has been waiting on the exact locations for the releases since early January, when she said bad weather was delaying the operation.
On Tuesday, the senator again said that the rainy season that ended mid-December is delaying the release.
The FARC promised to release the hostages on December 8. Cordoba said earlier that the hostages will be released in five different locations and at different times.
Colombian authorities revealed Tuesday that they had captured several guerrillas responsible for the kidnapping of one of the hostages whose release is scheduled, but police chief General Oscar Naranjo said that this would not interfere with the planned release.
