A woman who identified herself as a member of Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC on Tuesday claimed the guerrillas are holding the French journalist who went missing this weekend as “prisoner of war.”
The self-proclaimed member of the 15th front of the FARC called a journalist of newscast Noticias Uno that “the 15th front informs the public that the French journalist, dressed as military and captured in combat, is in our hands and a prisoner of war. He is slight wounded in one arm, has received medical attention and is out of danger.”
The journalist went missing after the army squad he was reporting on was taken under fire by guerrillas. Four soldiers were killed in the attack during which the troops lost sight of journalist Romeo Langlois.
Earlier this year, the FARC released their last political hostages and banned kidnapping as a form to seek political leverage and as a form of income.
